Elsee Ashworth

Elsee Ashworth was born to the late Willie Mae Tyler Ashworth and Emerson Ashworth, Sr. in Bancroft, LA. Elsee was born July 7, 1945 and departed this life, Thursday, April 14, 2022.

Elsee was a devout Christian and served as a Sunday School teacher for Friendship Baptist Church in Bancroft, LA. He was a graduate of Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA. He was an educator in the Vernon Parish schools, Leesville High and Fort Polk Elementary, where he served as principal and retired in 2021. Elsee worked in the Vernon Parish Schools for fifty-two years.

He leaves to mourn, one brother, Emerson Ashworth, Jr. of Oakland, CA; two sisters, Neysa Ashworth Leatherman and Anthony of San Diego, CA, Cynthia Smith & Robert of DeRidder, LA; one Auntie, Deloise Jamison of Berkley, CA; three uncles, Henry Ashworth of Berkley, CA, C.B. Tyler and J.P. Tyler, both of Tyler, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Daniel Ashworth.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Elder Wilfert Williams, Sr. will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Spikes Cemetery in Bancroft, LA.
