It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Doris Elaine White Wisby, who left us on April 24, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on June 22, 1933, in Cravens, Louisiana, Doris was a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend who will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Doris devoted her life to her family and took immense pride in her role as a homemaker. Known for her warm heart and generous spirit, Doris was famous for her delicious cooking. Her biscuits, dumplings, and coconut cake were legendary, and no gathering was complete without her special treats. She loved nothing more than feeding her family and friends, and her kitchen was always filled with laughter and love. Doris also had a special fondness for purple tulips, which brightened her days.
Doris is survived by her loving son, Wallace Wisby of DeRidder, LA; daughter, Wanda Leach of Pitkin, LA;bonus son, Michael White and Cindy of Coushatta, LA; brother-in-law, Milton Wisby, Sr. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her grandchildren: Revetta and Lindsey Coker, James "JR" and Jessica Reed, Waynelle and Michael Thompson, James David Wisby, Jason and Brittney Wisby, Colton White, Robert White; great grandchildren, Kyle and April Reeves, Kaleb Wisby, James Coker, Isaac and Jalea Reed, Daylen Reed, Kimberly Coker and Tyler Vangansbeke, Peyton Wisby, Gracie Wisby; great-great grandchildren, Elaina, Dutton, Odin and Kole. Her memory will also be cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, James Marise Wisby; parents, Robert "Bob" and Texana White; brothers, Louie White, Huel White, Robert White Jr. and Leighton White.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 5:00 PM until at Gravel Hill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 27, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at Gravel Hill Baptist Church, located at 1382 Gravel Hill Church Rd, Pitkin, LA. Brother Jeff James and Brother Ronnie Townley will officiate the service. Family and friends are invited to come celebrate Doris's life and share their favorite memories. Pallbearers will be David Wisby, Jason Wisby, JR Reed, Kaleb Wisby, Michael Thompson, Peyton Wisby, Isaac Reed, Daylen Reed, James Coker, Lindsey Coker. Following the service, Doris will be laid to rest in a burial service at Gravel Hill Cemetery, where her love will continue to shine.
In loving memory, let us remember Doris not only for her delicious cooking and kindness but also for the joy she brought into our lives. She will remain in our hearts forever.
