Daisy Nichols Geiger

Daisy N. Geiger of DeRidder, Louisiana passed away Friday, September 3, 2021 at 92 after a brief illness.

Born in Merryville, LA March 30, 1929, Daisy graduated as valedictorian of Merryville High School. She retired from a career at International Paper in 1985 and became an important part of the DeRidder community as a longtime member of the local Kiwanis Club and an active member of First United Methodist Church. Recently, she was interviewed by the Beauregard Museum as part of its oral history project.

To her family members, friends and the community, Daisy was known for her compassion, thoughtfulness and love of socializing. She enjoyed newspaper crossword puzzles, TV game shows, square dancing and working in her yard — especially when someone stopped by to join in, for whom she was always eager to make an excellent cup of coffee or delicious desserts.

Friends knew her as “Miss” Daisy and her family knew her as “MaMa” Daisy. She loved sending them frequent greeting cards to let them know she was thinking of them.

Daisy is survived by her sister, Joy Elese Keel, two sons, John (and Cheryl) Grass of Silsbee, TX and Mark (and Renee) Grass of Watauga, TX, son-in-law, Grant Beal of Merryville, LA; eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Archie and Estella Nichols, first husband John Grass, second husband Robert Geiger, daughters Vicki Beal and Nancy “Renee” Hines, sister Joyce Royston and brother David Nichols.

Visitation will be held at Myers Colonial Funeral Home, DeRidder, LA on Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., with service immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your favorite charity or church in Daisy’s honor.
