Curliss "Slim" Joseph Williams, Sr.

Curliss "Slim" Joseph Williams Sr., a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on July 27, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on October 7, 1934, in Gueydan, Louisiana, Curliss lived a full life that brought joy to many around him.

Curliss made his mark in the world as a skilled journeyman welder, working tirelessly in the construction industry. After his retirement, he enjoyed building concrete blocks and piers, always keeping his hands busy and his mind engaged. He had a knack for finding joy in simple pleasures, whether it was watching movies, playing a lively game of dominoes, or cheering on the New Orleans Saints with his beloved grandchildren.

He will be missed dearly by his daughter, Cheryl Ann Duraso of Moss Bluff, and his brother, Sterling Paul Williams and Charlotte of Carlyss, LA; five grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Curliss was a family man at heart and cherished the moments he spent with his loved ones.

Curliss was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Williams; parents Joseph and Philomine Williams; son, Curliss Joseph Williams, Jr.; daughter, Johnnie Del Gibson

A celebration of Curliss's life will be held Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA, where friends and family will gather to honor the man he was. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 9-10 AM. We invite everyone who knew him to come together and share stories, laughter, and memories. Pallbearers will be Ronald Goodman, Shannon Allen, Cory Dennis, Gavin Benoit, Scott Williams, Paul Williams. Honorary pallbearer will be Brayden Allen. Curliss will be laid to rest at Hopewell Cemetery in DeRidder, LA following the service.

In these times of sorrow, let's remember the laughter and love he brought into our lives. Rest in peace, Curliss. You will always hold a special place in our hearts.
