Cloteal Spikes, 87, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Thursday, October 19, 2023.

Cloteal Spikes was born July 5, 1936 to David and Janie Spikes in Pineland, TX. She accepted Christ at a very early age at Friendship Baptist Church in Bancroft, LA. After moving to Deridder, she united with Mount Kingdom now known as Mount Canaan Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor James Newton, Pastor Ernest Jackson and now Pastor Louis F. Guy I. She was once a member of the Senior Choir where she served as secretary for a few years.

Cloteal attended school at Bancroft Colored School and Carver Elementary School in Deridder. Cloteal worked several occupations but later retired from Westwood Manor Nursing Home after 20 years. She loved her patients and they loved her. Cloteal had infectious love for all people she came in contact with, most of them she began to claim as her own. Cloteal had a love for reading and tending to her flowers/plants in which they all had a name.

She was preceded in death by her parents; David and Janie Maxie Spikes, her brother; Dennis Spikes, Jr., her sisters; Erma Jean March and Mattie Mae Spikes Kennedy, her sons; Bobby and Harold Spikes, her daughter; Rebo Jo Spikes and her grand-dog; Winnie Spikes.

Left to cherish her memories are: her daughter, Ruby Spikes of Deridder, LA, her sons: Lawrence Spikes (Ann) of Lake Charles, LA, Rufus Spikes of Deridder, LA and William Spikes of Houston, TX and her loving grandchildren: Rodriguez Spikes, RaShonda Bagley, James Haynes, Michael Canady, Khiry Spikes, Kyneta Spikes and RiKeisha Spikes and 14 great grandchildren. A special son and daughter Pastor Robert and Linda Walker of Beaumont TX, her adopted grandchildren: Stephen and Tory Pitman, Colton and Isabella White, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA. Pastor Louis F. Guy I and Pastor Alvin Peters, Sr. will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Spikes Cemetery in Bancroft, LA.
