Sis. Christine Harris, 80 of DeRidder, LA. passed away from this life on Sunday, March 17, 2024.

She was born November 27, 1943, to Sam Hickman and Lorene Ford. On May 25, 1963, she was married to Alvin Harris. To that union four daughters were born. Rachel (preceded her mother in death), Melissa, Melanie, and Marilyn.

Sis. Christine Harris was a faithful, strong, and model Christian. She fought a long, hard battle, and she won. She never gave up, her faith in God was strong and never wavered. No more suffering, no more sickness. God has called you on home to glory.

She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. Sis Harris was a faithful member of the Mt. Canaan Baptist Church, where Louis F. Guy I is the pastor. She was a Deaconess and served as President of the Mission department and served as the Vice President. She also served on the Decorating committee and used her beautiful voice to sing praises to God in the choir. She believed in giving God the glory and the praise and was not ashamed of the Holy Spirit.

Survivors include her daughters: Melissa Harris-Thompson (Roderick), Melanie Harris-Scott, and Marilyn Harris-Crosley (Elliott).

Five grandchildren: Teaire Cockburn (Tyrone), Rodrick Thompson Jr. (Man – Angela), Tiffany Harris, Cristina Thompson, DeMarkus Thompson.

Six great grandchildren: Taliyah, Camryn, Tamiyah, Carmyn, Arianna, and Camiyah.

Her siblings: Tina Hickman, James Hickman, George Hickmon (preceded in death), Betty Green (Rev. L. C.), Faye Smith (Elder John Smith), Jesse Hickman, Chester Eugene Hickman, Lee Ford, Jerry Hickman (Shanon), Janice Hartsfield (Gene), Lisa Hickman, Chester Hickman (Rokeshia), and Glen Hickman as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Sis. Christine Harris is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Harris, one daughter Rachel Ann Harris, both of her parents Lorene Ford Hickman and Sam Hickman; and one brother, George Hickmon.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2024 from 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA. Pastor Louis F. Guy I will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Alan Hickman, Tyrone Cockburn, Jamal Jackson, Mondre Jackson, Minister Bernard McCoy, Channing James. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rodrick Thompson, Jr., DeMarkus Thompson, Elliott Crosley, Jamar Woods, Jesse Hickman, Lee Ford, Chester Eugene Hickman, James Hickman, Camryn Jackson, Antione Green, Jerry Hickman, Glen Hickman, Chester Hickman. Burial will follow at Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, LA.
