Charles Sidney Scott Sr., 83 of DeRidder, LA was called to his Heavenly home on February 2, 2026. Charles was born to the late George and Stella Scott on July 30, 1942, in Pineland, TX. He accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. J.W. Gibbs at Walnut Grove Baptist Church. Charles earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Arts from Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA. He was drafted into the United States Army during Vietnam Era. He met the love of his life, Josie Johnson, in August of 1969 and married her on June 6, 1970. He later earned a Masters Degree in Education from Southern University. He worked as a Vocational Education Teacher of Industrial Arts for 30 years, starting at Carver and ended his teaching career at DeRidder High School in 1995. He was a faithful member of Sunrise Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Charles faithfully served as the Walnut Grove Homecoming Chairman for many years. He enjoyed working with his hands while building and fixing things. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing...and he loved horses.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Gloria (Sneed) Saunders, Margrete (Joe) Matthews; brothers, David and Paul Scott Charles.
Charles leaves to cherish his memories; wife of 55 years, Josie Scott of DeRidder, LA; sons, Charles Scott of Lake Charles, LA and Carl (Crystal) Scott of Sulphur, LA; a sister-in-law, Debra (Paul) Scott of Port Arthur, TX; grandchildren, Taylor Scott of Lake Charles, LA, Mariah Davis and Dorian Davis of Sulphur, LA; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at Sunrise Missionary Baptist Church, 1326 Muldrow Street, DeRidder, LA. Reverend Alvin Peters, Sr. will officiate the service. Those honored to be pallbearers are Sneed Saunders, Jr., Jaden Saunders, Bobby Rose, Jr., Kevin Carter, Brian Matthews, and Aaron Carter. Honorary pallbearers will be Alfred Scott, Earl Scott, Sr., Carl Scott, Charles Scott, Jr., Zachary Scott, Marvin Scott, Sr. Burial will follow the service at Old Cypress Cemetery in Rosepine, LA.
