Carl Wade Crain

A native of Merryville, LA, Carl lived in Newton, TX for the past 10 years.  Following graduation from Merryville High School in 1967, he served two tours in Viet Nam with the U.S. Army.  Carl spent many years working in Alaska and other states as a member of the IBEW.

Carl is survived by his daughter Kay Huff and son-in-law James of Newton, TX; and son, Carl W. “Bubba” Crain II of Minden, TX; four brothers, Roe Crain of Westlake, LA, Jim Crain of Sulphur, LA, Joe Crain of Onalaska, TX, and Dale Crain of Cypress, TX; three sisters, Clara Loftin of Port Neches, TX, Ester Jeans of Orange, TX, and Kay Fontenot of Lafayette, LA; four grandchildren, Ryan, Brendon, Tyeler, and Dylan of Call, TX; and 25 nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Lucille Neely Crain of Merryville, LA, and one sister, Barbara Jarrell of Merryville, LA.  He also leaves behind many caring friends and relatives.

Beneath that gruff exterior beat a heart of gold, and Carl Crain was a man of few words.

Memorial Services will be held at Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA, on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 2 PM with Bro. David Zeigler officiating.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Society.
