Candice Ann Dunham

Candice Ann Tilley Dunham, a loving mother, devoted friend, and a true beacon of kindness, passed away on September 15, 2026, in her hometown of DeRidder, Louisiana. Born on July 22, 1972, Candice lived a life filled with laughter, love, and the unwavering desire to help others.

Candice was the kind of person who would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need, no matter her own circumstances. Her warmth and generosity knew no bounds, and she always put the needs of others before her own. She embraced life with a spirit that was larger than life itself. Her laugh, pure and childlike, could light up any room, and her artistic talents were magical-she had a gift for turning the old into something new. She loved the Lord and studying her Bible.

Candice is survived by her beloved son, Austin Strickland (Kathryn) of Richmond, VA; her spouse, Cameron McDaniel of DeRidder, LA; her dear aunt, Amy Quarles (Charles) of DeRidder, LA; brothers, Ronnie Tilley, Lanny Palmer and sister, Nicole Palmer, both of Virginia; father, Ronald Tilley; niece, Kiyah Palmer; uncles, James Painter (Debra), Terry Tilley (Tina), Joe Barnett; cousins, Jonathan and Tina Dunn and their son, Scott Crews, Tiffany Inge, Ferrin Painter(Ashley) and their son, Landon, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends, all of whom will forever cherish her memory as a guiding light in their lives. Candice had a special love for her fur babies, finding joy and companionship in their playful antics.

Candice was preceded in death by her mother, Shelia Martin; grandparents, Bertha Bailey, Howard Painter, Mildred Tilley and CB Tilley; uncle, Edward Painter, Vernon Painter; aunt, Sherry Barnett; cousins, Ricky C. Keel, Melissa Painter.

Candice had faced numerous challenges throughout her life, yet she maintained an incredible positive outlook. She was forgiving, respectful, and often the life of the party with her comical spirit.

To honor the impact she made on everyone she met, the family will hold a memorial service celebrating her extraordinary life in the coming days. Details regarding the service will be shared soon, and all who knew and loved Candice are encouraged to join in remembering her unique spirit.

Rest in peace, Candice. Your laughter and kindness will never be forgotten.

Cremation has been entrusted to Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.
