Brenda Gail Wood

December 19, 1944 — June 23, 2025

Merryville, Louisiana

Brenda Gail Wood went home to her Lord and Savior on June 23, 2025. She was born on December 19, 1944, in DeRidder, Louisiana, to Sidney and Helen Boitnott. Brenda lived a life marked by fierce love, bold faith, and passionate service to God.

She was married to Gary Wood for 28 wonderful years. Together, they shared a deep relationship rooted in faith, hard work, and love—whether working cattle or worshiping God side by side.

Brenda lived in Pasadena, Texas, for 36 years, where she built a life centered on caring for her family and serving the community through volunteer work in schools and hospitals. She was a hardworking woman of integrity and was well respected in her career. Brenda worked in the oil industry for CJ Harter and Son Machinery Inc., later with The Clorox Company, before eventually moving back to her hometown of DeRidder. She later retired from Beauregard Memorial Hospital after many years of faithful service.

A caregiver at heart, Brenda was selfless, dependable, and always willing to help those in need. If we had to describe her in just a few words, they would be fierce, bold, and passionate because that’s how she loved, how she worked, and how she served the Lord. Though she lived simply herself, she was rich in wisdom and endlessly generous to others. Memories of her continue to echo the same truth: Brenda loved deeply, lived faithfully, and left an unforgettable impression on everyone she met.

She was a wonderful wife, a beautiful mother, and an amazing Granny, whose love for her family knew no limits. She was also patriotic and deeply loved her country and always proud to be an American and grateful for the freedoms we enjoy.

Brenda leaves behind a legacy through her family: her husband, three children, thirteen grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her beloved husband, Gary Wood, her children and their spouses: Mike Emmons and Loretta, Rob Emmons and Marty, Catherine Beasley and Jack, stepson, William Wood and Carla. Her cherished siblings: Sharon Bushnell, Mary Jo Brister, Linda Pruitt and Danny Boitnott. Her grandchildren and their spouses: Jonathan Emmons and Elissa, Leda Livingston and Nicholas, Erica Harris and Jeremiah, Lindsay Whitacre and Aaron, Morgan Sanford and Anthony, Nicholas Emmons, Shane Beasley and Layne, Kendal Beasley and Christian Beasley and Rachel, Kyle Morgan, Katie Murphy and Mark, and Colton Wood. Her great-grandchildren: Declan, Teagan, Finley, Emerson, Taylor, Hadley, Henley, Haven, Grace, Eleanor, Reagan, Everett, Braden, Kuper, Tyler, Wade, Jack, new baby Beasley (soon to arrive),

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney Boitnott and Helen Dickerson, stepfather, Jim Dickerson, her siblings, Patsy Sharpe, Jimmy Boitnott, Kaye Wade, Thomas Boitnott and her grandson, Jacob Ryan Felder Beasley.

One of her favorite scriptures was 2 Timothy 4:7-8: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”
