Brenda Ann Ashworth Diggles began her life’s journey on June 20, 1953, in Merryville, Louisiana. She was born to the late J.C. Ashworth and Margie Ashworth. From an early age, Brenda was known for her kind heart, strong will, and unwavering faith.

At the tender age of six, Brenda accepted Christ as her Savior at True Light Baptist Church, laying the foundation for a life rooted in compassion and service.

She graduated from Merryville High School in 1971 and later pursued her calling in nursing at Angelina College in Lufkin, Texas. Brenda began her career in healthcare as a CNA in her twenties, later earning her medication aide license, and ultimately becoming a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), all through Angelina College. With a heart devoted to caregiving, she dedicated 43 years of faithful service in nursing homes, including her time at Tiber Ridge.

Brenda’s nurturing spirit extended far beyond her professional life. She was deeply involved in her community and always sought ways to serve others with love and grace.

She leaves behind a legacy of strength, love, and faith in her three children: Shanita Ashworth, Gill Ashworth (Sade’), and Etienne “A.T.” Ashworth (Nicole); 11 beloved grandchildren; 2 cherished great-grandchildren; sisters, Minnie Tyler and Greg and Vanessa Hubbard, both of Newton. Also left to cherish her memory are a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, JC and Margie Mae Ashworth; brother, Gary Ashworth; sister, Sandra Hunter.

Brenda’s life was a testament to endurance, service, and love—a beacon of light to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Spikes Cemetery in Bancroft, LA. Family and friends will gather for fellowship at 11:00 AM at the cemetery. Burial will follow at Spikes Cemetery. Thadius Guillory will officiate the service.

A Tribute to My Beloved Mama

Mama,

There are no words grand enough to capture what you meant to me,

But I will try, because your love deserves to be honored.

You were my first home, my comfort, my strength.

In your eyes, I found safety. In your arms, I found peace.

You gave endlessly—of your time, your heart, your wisdom.

Even in your quiet moments, your love spoke louder than any words ever could.

You taught me what it means to be kind,

To stand tall with humility,

To fight for what’s right,

And to love without condition.

Your laughter filled our home like sunlight,

And your prayers built a foundation I still stand on today.

Every sacrifice you made—seen and unseen—

Lives on in the man I strive to be.

Though you may no longer walk beside me,

You are everywhere I go.

In the lessons I live by, in the strength I carry,

And in the love, I now share with others.

Thank you, Mama.

For every hug, every hard truth, every warm meal, and every moment.

I am proud to be your son.

And I will carry your light with me, always.

Rest in peace, with all my love Gill and AT.

A Tribute to My Mama from Shanita “Nene” Ashworth

Mama,

There are no words deep enough or wide enough to fully capture what you mean to me. You have been my first home, my first teacher, and my greatest protector. From the moment I opened my eyes, you were there—strong, steady, and full of grace.

You taught me how to stand tall, even when life tries to break me down. You showed me how to love with my whole heart, how to give without expecting anything in return, and how to carry myself with dignity and kindness. Through your example, I learned resilience, faith, and the power of a woman who knows her worth.

You were my safe place—your hug could quiet any storm in my soul. Your laughter lit up the darkest rooms. And even in silence, your presence spoke volumes.

If I am ever called strong, beautiful, or wise, it is because I carry your spirit in me. I am who I am because of you.

Thank you, Mama. For every sacrifice, every prayer, every sleepless night. For loving me when I was unlovable and believing in me when I doubted myself. You are my heart, my hero, and my forever inspiration.

I love you more than words can hold.
