Bobby Gill was born January 9, 1929 to the union of the late Ellis and Mary P. Gill, Sr.

He passed away February 7, 2022 at the age of 93.

Bobby was raised in Merryville, LA. He was a World War II Army Veteran. Bobby married the love of his life, Eloise Gill, on June 26, 1948. To this special union they were blessed with four children. Bobby drove trucks for TOL Hogg Farm and LeRoy Stewart, graded plywood for Kirby and later worked for Phelps Correctional Center until his retirement in 1998. After retiring he spent his time hunting, fishing, planting a garden and fruit trees, and raising hogs and chickens. His favorite past time was playing dominoes. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish his memory are daughters, Barbara Thomas and Tommy, Nelda Gill, Lynette Gill, all of Merryville, LA; brother, Harold Gill of Merryville, LA; sister, Virginia Washington of NJ; grandchildren, Anthony Thompson and Sasha, Elijah Williams, Berry Thompson and Ashley, Tommy (TJ) Thomas II, Jared Gill and Kayla, Tiara Brown, Kiana Bailey and Wade, April Garcia, Bobby Whiddon, Devonta Gill; great grandchildren, Katelyn Nelson and Jake, Joshua Cummins, Da’ Vonni Thompson, Giselle Thompson, Mya Thompson, Ari Thompson, Alexa Brown, Israel Hill, Jahzelle Hill, Anthony Gill II, A’Kirah Garcia, Ayden Garcia, Jordan T. Price, Kaylee Thompson, Michael Anthony Thompson, Christina Cole, Madelynn Bailey; great-great-grandchildren, Raelynn Nelson, Charlie Nelson, Caspian Price, Asher Price and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elois Gill; son, Anthony “Tony” Gill; parents, Ellis and Mary P. Gill, Sr.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM and continue at 10:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA. Reverend Wilfert Williams will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Merryville North Cemetery in Merryville, LA.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Thomas, II, Berry Thompson, Bobby Whiddon, Wade Bailey, Anthony Thompson, Elijah Williams, Jared Gill, Edgar Spikes, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be William Gill, Jr., Jackie Gill, Rodney Gill, Benny Gill, Robert Gill, Ricky Gill, Reginald Gill, Tommy Thomas, Sr.
