DeRidder, Louisiana

Billie Lee Butler, a beloved friend, father, and pillar of his community, passed away on August 1, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on January 18, 1942, in Dexter, MO, Billie lived a life filled with hard work and kindness. For 28 years, he dedicated his life to the Kansas City Southern Railroad, only missing one day of work during his entire career, a testament to his unwavering commitment. Due to medical reasons, he retired but continued to inspire those around him with his friendly nature and ability to make friends wherever he went.

Billie's love for farming was evident to anyone who knew him. After leaving school in the 7th grade to help on the family farm, he eventually built his own, nurturing the land as he nurtured the relationships in his life. Whether sharing stories with neighbors or stopping to chat with passersby, Billie never met a stranger; his warm smile and easy-going manner touched countless lives. He really loved visiting with his church family at Unity Baptist Church.

He is survived by his sons, Terry Butler of Rosepine, LA, Michael Butler of DeRidder, LA; brother, W.L. Butler and Connie; grandchildren, Chad Butler and Morgan, Jessica Blankenbaker and John, Lee Butler and Lauren, Laci Goodwin and Adam, Michael Butler, Jr. and Lindsey; eleven great grandchildren and a host on nieces, nephews, other family and friends who will carry on his legacy of hard work and compassion.

Billie was preceded in death by his parents, W. E. and Florence Butler; grandson, Billie Wayne Butler; siblings, Florence, Chester, Dorothy, Hershel, C.H., Wanda, Dorris; bonus siblings, Lynn, Billy and Linda.

A public visitation will be held at Myers Colonial Funeral Home on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service celebrating Billie's remarkable life will take place on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 10:00 AM, also at Myers Colonial Funeral Home. Pastor Mike Burkes will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be friends from Unity Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Rosepine Cemetery in Rosepine, LA.
