Archie Bald Spence, 96, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Thursday, April 11, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

Archie was born in Walters, OK on December 30, 1927 to Taylor Young Spence and Rosa Belle Stockstill Spence.

Archie worked as a right of way specialist for CLECO for forty-two years prior to his retiring. His favorite places for him to plant his feet were in the green pastures where he operated a dairy, farmed the land and raised cattle.

Archie loved the Lord and his family immensely. He was a deacon at Diamond Baptist Church

Archie was always proud of his family. Whether it was watching his daughter play basketball, riding his two grandsons through the cow pasture, or maintaining an endless amount of M&M’s to have ready for his great grandchildren, he loved each and every one of them.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Carol Strickland and Ricky of Rosepine, LA; sisters, Betty Jo Anderson of Rosepine, LA, Billie Jo Middaugh and John of Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Cody Strickland of Rosepine, LA, Dylan Strickland(Mackenzie) of Rosepine, LA; great grandchildren Harlee, Rayleigh, Whitley, Sadler and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Brewer Spence; parents, Taylor and Rosa Spence; brothers, Rex Spence, Ray Spence, Ted Spence, Jack Spence; sister, Gladys Rispone; sisters-in-law, Lucille Spence, Clara Spence.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2024 from 11:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 PM at Diamond Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA. Brother Paul Massey and Pastor Bill Smith will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Cody Strickland, Dylan Strickland, Darrell Curtis, Charles Spence, Johnny Spence, Blake Spence, Brian Spence. Honorary Pallbearers will be Frankie Ried, Ted Spence, Jr. Burial will follow at Lewis Cemetery in DeRidder, LA.
