Anne Horton

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Anne Marie Henry Horton, who left us on March 22, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on December 5, 1946, in Brooklyn, NY, Anne spent many wonderful years in Merryville, LA, where she built a life filled with love and laughter, surrounded by her cherished family.

Anne was the second oldest of nine children and had a heart of gold. She is survived by her sons, Norman Henry of Bryan, TX, Jeff and Sherry Henry of Moss Point, MS, Robert and Tracy Henry of Nederland, TX; brothers, Donald and Gayla Mason of Newton, TX, David Mason of Bon Wier, TX; sisters, Margaret Ferguson of DeRidder, LA, Carol Morton of Merryville, LA, Linda and Gordon “BeBo” Ashworth of Merryville, LA; grandchildren, Cody Henry, Mynda Henry and Luckus Sonnier, Christopher and Allison Henry; great grandchildren, Miller Henry and Tru'leigh "Nuggy" Sonnier and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Anne is preceded in death by her first husband, Norman Ray Henry, Sr.; her second husband, Donald Horton; parents, JC and Helen Mason; siblings, John Mason, Glen Mason and Barbara Mason; sister-in-law, Mildred Mason.

She had an infectious spirit, always welcoming everyone with open arms and a warm smile. She adored her furry companions-Shorty, Peaches, and Bear-and often shared her home with all her loved ones.

Known for her amazing cooking, Anne's frog legs and chicken and dumplings were legendary. She loved to unwind by watching game shows, particularly Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, and was a big fan of classic shows like Days of Our Lives and Golden Girls. Fun fact: she had a knack for scratch-off tickets and seemed to always come out a winner!

To celebrate Anne's life, a public viewing will take place at Myers Colonial Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM where friends and family can come together to share memories and support one another. A funeral service will follow on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the same location. Donald Mason and David Mason will officiate the service. After the service, Anne will be laid to rest in Merryville Cemetery in Merryville, LA. Pallbearers will be Cody Henry, Jacob Bernal, Luckus Sonnier, Chad Mason, Jared Mason and Zac Belcher.
