Lansford Chance LeBert

Lansford Chance LeBert, 72, of DeRidder, LA, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, TX.


Lansford was a graduate of DeRidder High School and SOWELA Tech in Lake Charles, LA. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of DeRidder.  He loved his family and grandchildren with all of his heart.  Lansford was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.  Lansford worked for Brown & Root and later with the Civil Service as a chemical and small arms repairman and post engineer. He was employed for 33 years at Fort Polk in Leesville, LA.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved being outdoors.


Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 52 ½ years, Barbara LeBert of DeRidder, LA; son, Lane LeBert and Melanie of Woodlands, TX; brother, Tracey Williams and Beverly of New Llano, LA; grandchildren, Hayley LeBert of Lake Charles, LA, Layna and Lance LeBert both of Ragley, LA; step grandchildren, Hailey Wooten of Lubbock, TX, Hunter and Jacob Wooten both of Houston, TX; and a host of other family and friends.


He was preceded in death by his father, Robert C. LeBert; mother, Myra Chance Williams and sister, Myra Anderson.


Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.  Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 6, 2019 at First Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA.  Brother Lindsey Burns will officiate the service. Reading of obituary and Scriptures by niece, Lyndsay Clark. Pallbearers will be Lane LeBert, David Cudd, Craig Cudd, Conner Cudd, Darryl Chance and Henry Chance.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Harvey Chance, Ronnie Younge, and Bobby Cudd. Burial will follow at Creel Cemetery in Reeves, LA.
