Evelyn Estelle Cole

Evelyn Estelle Cole, 84, of Sugartown, LA passed from this life on Sunday morning, January 27, 2019. Born August 26, 1934 in Bay City, TX, daughter of Bill and Mary Williams. She attended Las Vegas High School and received her GED at EBHS in 1976.


Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 65 years, Jack D. Cole, Sr., of Sugartown, LA; son, Danny Cassels and wife Cynthia of Rosepine, LA; son, Billy Cassels and wife Paula Jean of Crescent Valley, NV; daughter, Mary-Nell Cole of Sugartown, LA; stepdaughter, Nancy Phy of Sugartown, LA; and stepson, Douglas Cole of Quartz Hill, CA; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren, three sisters and one brother.


She is preceded in death by her parents,William and Mary Williams; brother, Laurence "Bingo" Williams;  and sisters, Dorothy Barbee and Imogene "Genie" Dupree.


In the 60’s she was a Cub Scout den mother. In the 70’s, she taught 4-H sewing classes and adult cake decorating classes at the local high schools. In her retirement years she was an active member of the SW Louisiana Daylily Club. Evelyn enjoyed working with Roberta Doty to document all of the cemetery headstones in the Beauregard Parish cemeteries (copies available in the local library).


Visitation and funeral will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM till time of service at 1:00 PM.  Brother Frank Ott will officiate the service.  Pallbearers will be Jimmy Thompson, James Cooley, Ricky Smith, Jarred Perkins, Drew McMahon and Jody Blankenbaker.  Burial will follow at Smyrna Cemetery in Sugartown, LA.
