Mr. Jeans retired from the
Louisiana State Highway Department
 after 32 years.
Being an avid, hunter he was well known for his hunting skills.
 He loved his family and friends.
His second greatest love was the river bottom
where he spent many hours with his walker hounds.


Mildred Wisenbaker
December 17, 1922 - September 27, 2010


Mildred Gray Pou Wisenbaker was born December 17, 1922, the 4th and youngest child of Allen & Fannie Coussons Pou. She Was born at home in the Ramah Community near Tenaha in Shelby County TX. She left this earth on September 27, 2010, at her home in the East Beauregard Community. She was 87 years old. Mildred married Gordon Wisenbaker in 1940. She moved to Beauregard Parish in 1950 and spent the rest of her life here. She lived for many years in Ragley and in 1983 moved to the East Beauregard area.
 
Mildred was a loyal and active member of Gillis Baptist Church before moving to the East Beauregard area. After moving, she became and active member of Shiloh Baptist Church where she had many loving friends. She was a loyal wife, a devoted mother and a generous and loving friend. She loved working crossword puzzles, reading and cooking. She was a fabulous cook, could memorize a recipe after seeing or hearing it once and enjoyed above all, sharing food with her family and friends.
 
She was married for 56 years before the death of her husband in 1996. She is survived by her 4 children: Pat Lilly & husband Steve of Sugar Land, TX, Ken Wisenbaker & wife Maude of Dry Creek, LA, Virginia Hebert of Moss Bluff, LA and Chris Wisenbaker & wife Lynn of DeRidder, LA; 3 granddaughters Kathleen Randall  & Ellen Mitchell of Sugar Land, TX and Shawn Allen of Lake Charles, LA; 5 great-grandchildren; a brother Charles Pou of Orange, TX, a sister and her best friend, Grace McLaughlin of The Woodlands, TX, she is also survivbed by one brother-in-law, 3 sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother William Pou, a sister-in-law and 2 brothers-in-law.
 
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Shiloh Baptist CHurch in DeRidder, Louisiana
 
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Shiloh Baptist Church in DeRidder, Louisiana. Rod Martin will officiate. Interment will follow at Hampton Memorial Cemetery in Elizabeth, Louisiana

John Steech
January 31, 1928 - September 4, 2010

John J. Steech, 82, of Rosepine, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2010 in a Lake Charles hospital.  He was born on January 31, 1928 in Grindstone, Pennsylvania and entered the United States Army upon graduation from high school.  While stationed in Japan, he met and married his wife, Teruko Yajima Steech in 1953.  His Army career later brought him to Fort Polk in 1963 when
he made his home in Rosepine.    After a 20 year career in the Army, which included a tour in the Korean War, he retired in 1966 and continued working at Fort Polk in a civil service capacity until his second retirement in 1983. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and his wife. Survivors include his four sons, John Henry Steech and Danny Steech of Rosepine, Jeffery Steech and wife Ronise of DeRidder, and Gene Steech and wife Phyllis of Moss Bluff; 7 grandchildren, Adrienne Steech Walker and husband Ryan, Shane Steech and wife Brandy, Wesley Steech and wife Jessica, Casey Steech, Garrett Steech, Brent Steech and Caleb Steech; 3 great-grandchildren, Elyce and Ann Kathryn Walker, and Gavin Steech.

Pallbearers will be his four sons, John, Gene, Danny and Jeffery Steech and grandchildren Wesley Steech and Casey Steech.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 7, in Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder.  Father Brian King will officiate.  Burial will follow in Rosepine Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday, September 6, from 5-9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9 a.m. till time of service.
