 Saturday, December 27, 2008, at his residence in Hampton, Virginia.Visitation will be held on Sunday,  January 4, 2009 beginning at 4:00 until 8:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home of DeRidder, Louisiana and will continue on Monday at 9:00 until time of the service at Starlight Baptist Church in DeRidder, Louisiana at 11 AM. Survivors include the following; Grandmothers: Gertrude Williams of Pineville, Louisiana and Zellas Self of DeRidder, Louisiana; Uncles: Terry Williams of Ontario, California and Chris Williams of Buffalo, New York; Special Friend: Meagon Johnson of Hampton, Virginia; Family of the Heart: Emma Curry of Houston, Texas, Sandra McCoy of DeRidder, Louisiana, Debra Grant of DeRidder, Louisiana, Gloria of Houston, Texas, Joanne of Beaumont, Texas, Lisa Gibbs of DeRidder, Louisiana, and Latoya Gillian of Hampton, Virginia; Special Cousin: Reba of Dallas, Texas as well as a host of other relatives, cousins and friends.

Maria Sharber, 75, of DeRidder, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2008 at St. Patrick’s Hospital in Lake Charles, Louisiana. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home of DeRidder, Louisiana. Burial will be in Whitaker Cemetery of DeRidder, Louisiana.

 Survivors include her Daughter:  Tina M. Sharber of DeRidder, Louisiana ;Son:  John R. Sharber, Jr. and wife Helen of Westlake, Louisiana; 5 Grandchildren:  Antoinette M. Nelson, Travis Pitre, Dustina Sharber, Marlene Holcomb & Kalene Holcomb;2 Great Grandchildren:  Kaileanna Hodge & Skylar Hodge; Sister:Anna Boanca of DeRidder, LA  Family by heart:  David & Lisa Harper of Sugartown & their two children Hunter & Dawson Harper; Thelma Hinds and children of DeRidder, Louisiana. Preceded in death by her husband, John Sharber.

Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at DeRidder Retirement and Rehab in DeRidder, Louisiana.  Visitation will begin on Friday, December 26, 2008 from 10 AM until 10 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder and on Saturday, December 27, 2008 from 10 AM until 2 PM at Gravel Hill Baptist Church in Pitkin, Louisiana. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 2 PM at Gravel Hill Baptist Church in Pitkin, Louisiana with Bro. Arlen Smith officiating.  Burial will follow at Drakes Fork Cemetery in Cravens, Louisiana.  Survivors include the following; Wife: Alice ?Rosie? Johnson; Daughters: Brenda Lee Wise of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, Tamara Dawn Johnson of Singer, Louisiana, and Bobbie Jo Johnson-Longlois and husband Louis of Singer, Louisiana;  

Grandchildren: Kimberly Maguire, Jimmy Maguire, Tracy Maguire, Austin Johnson, Kyle Trahan, and Juliet Leyva; Great Grandchild: Alaina Lynn Mashtare and Brother: Ottis Johnson of Pitkin, Louisiana.

Friday, December 19, 2008 at Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder, Louisiana.  Visitation will be held at Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church in Rosepine, Louisiana on Sunday, December 21, 2008 from 5 PM – 8 PM and Monday, December 22, 2008 from 2 PM – 8 PM and also on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 9 AM until the time of service.  Funeral Services are on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 10:00 AM at Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church in Rosepine, Louisiana, with burial following at Rosepine Cemetery, Rosepine, Louisiana. Elder Perry Miers, Elder Gerald Read, Elder Truman Keel, Elder Walter McAlpin, and Deacon Bruce Ward will officiate.  Survivors include the following: Daughter: Johnna Rhea Husarek and husband R.A. “Bob” Husarek of Rosepine, LA. Sons: Bruce Lehto and wife Cora Lehto of Rosepine, LA, Brian Lehto and wife Janet Lehto of Shreveport, LA, and John C. Lehto and wife Liz Lehto of Rosepine, LA. Sister: Beulah Thompson of Rosepine, LA. Grandchildren named in order of age: Kaiti Husarek Chenard, Michelle Lehto Hollis, Erik Lehto, Maija Husarek Blood, Devon Lehto, Granddaughter Lehto due in February, Steven Deforest, Jesse Lehto, Randy Robertson, Clifton “B. J.” Lehto and Clayton Lehto. Great Grandchildren: Andre’ Dunbar, Daniel Chenard, Isabella Chenard, and Seth Hilton. Preceded in death by: Husband: Hugh John Lehto; Mother and Father: Fate and Susan Lewis; Auntie and Uncle Jack Blackmon, one brother and three sisters
 

She was an accomplished artist in both oils and watercolors with paintings displayed at Rosepine High School and Public Buildings. She painted the scene in the Baptistery at Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church where she was a lifelong member. She was an active member of the Rosepine Seniors Group as well as quilting with the Shiloh Quilters.

Bud Estes will officiate. Survivors include the following; Son: Gary Burks and wife Janice of Fields, Louisiana; Brothers: Wayne Mitchell of Sea Graves, Texas and J.K. Mitchell of Diabol, Texas; Grandchildren:  Jody Stracener and husband Steve of Fields, Louisiana and Greg Burks of Fields, Louisiana; Great Grandchild: Dylon Taylor of Fields, Louisiana.  She was preceded in death by husband: R. Grover Cleveland "Bud" Hamilton, 73, passed from this life on Monday, December 15, 2008 at Deer Creek Doctor’s Hospital in Leesville, Louisiana.  Mr. Hamilton was a life resident of the Merryville area. He left to work the oil Field at age 13.  He was of the Baptist Faith. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 18, 2008 from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana, with funeral services following at 2 PM. Survivors include the following; Wife: Peggy Hamilton of Henryetta, Oklahoma; Stepsons: Wade Pulis of Hendersonville, North Carolina, Clarence Pulis of Hendersonville, North Carolina, and Joe Richard of DeQuincy, Louisiana; Daughters: Charlotte Hamilton Gilchriest of Merryville, Louisiana, Deanna Marie Hamilton of Henryetta, Oklahoma, Ashley Nicole Hamilton of Henryetta, Oklahoma, Haley Michelle Hamilton of Henryetta, Oklahoma, Brandy Richard of Henryetta, Oklahoma, and Mary Richard of Henryetta, Oklahoma; Brother: Clement Lester Hamilton of Memphis, Tennessee; Sister: Sylvia LeBlue of Merryville, Louisiana; Special Niece: Julia R. Rosathle "Mrs. Rose" Clinton Mark, 83, passed from this life on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at Baton Rouge General Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  Mrs. Rose worked at Fort Polk Hospital for 31 years.  She will be missed by her love ones and friends.  Visitation will be on Friday, December 19, 2008 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church in DeRidder, Louisiana.  Funeral Service are to be held on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church in DeRidder, Louisiana. Rev. Keith Stevenson will officiate.  Survivors include the following; Son: Terrance Mark of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Daughters: Suddie Jean Tucker of Alexandria, Virginia, Eunice Ray Watkins-Morris of Baton Rounge, Louisiana, and Estella Iona Mark-Brown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; 15 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great Great Grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her daughter: Carolyn Rose Clinton Burns Miller.

Velma Fancher Nash, 93, passed from this life on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at Westwood Manor in DeRidder, Louisiana.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana from 4 – 8 PM, and will continue on Monday, December 15, 2008 from 9 AM until the service at 2 PM.  Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 15, 2008 at 2 PM at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana, with burial following at Cannon Cemetery in Merryville, Louisiana.

Mrs. Nash was a long term member of the Junction community and the Calvary Baptist Church.



7 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her husband:  Rev. Acie T. Nash; daughter: June Jenkins and her grandson: Shannon Lynch.


 
Todd E. Cornes

Todd E. Cornes, 40, passed from this life on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at his residence in Merryville, Louisiana.  He is survived by the following; Grandmother: Vernie Cornes of Merryville, Louisiana; Brothers: Scott and wife Alanna Cornes of Magnolia Springs, Texas, and Billy Jack Cornes of Merryville, Louisiana; Nephews: Riley Carter and Jackson Cornes; Nieces: Laityn Abigail Cornes and Ella Cornes.

Todd was preceded in death by his parents: Paula and Jack Cornes.

Chester Paul Taylor, 72, passed from this life on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Pineville, Louisiana.  He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sigrid Taylor of Leesville, Louisiana; Son: Christopher Emile Taylor of Leesville, Louisiana; Stepson: Frank Werner of Ottweiler, Germany; Daughter: Melanie Elaine Taylor of New Llano, Louisiana; Four Grandchildren,
and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by: Sons: Ray Taylor and Randy Taylor; Sisters: Eula May Willingham and Rena Leger.
