Visitation will continue at Westview Baptist Church on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 from 9 AM until the funeral service time. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Westview Baptist Church in DeRidder, Louisiana at 10 AM with Rev. Wayne Kite and Rev. Harlis Meylian will officiate. Burial will follow at Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder, Louisiana. Survivors include the following: Daughters: Doris and husband Don Stuart of DeRidder, Louisiana, Lynette and husband Douglas Wilson of Leesville, Louisiana, and Janette and husband Tommy Nolde of Leesville, Louisiana; Five Grandchildren: Latonia Alexander and husband John of Lansing, Kansas, Curtis Wilson and wife Maxine of Leesville, Louisiana, Ray Stuart and wife Missy of DeRidder, Louisiana, Lisa Grimes and husband Wesley of Leesville, Louisiana, and Jason Nolde and wife Melissa of Huntington, Texas; as well as Fifteen Great Grandchildren and Two Great Great Grandchildren. Gene Hammontree, 63, Rosepine, Louisiana, passed from this life on Tuesday, August 4, 2009. Visitation will be held at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana on Thursday, August 6, 2009 from 3 PM until 10 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday, August 7, 2009 at Myers Colonial Funeral Home from 9 AM until the time of service. The Funeral Services will be held at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana on Friday, August 7, 2009 at 3 O’clock PM with Rev. Lloyd Carrol and Rev. Claud Jeane officiating. Burial will follow at Rosepine Cemetery in Rosepine, Louisiana. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion post 27, as well as the Louisiana Quarter Horse Association and the American Quarter Horse Association. He was a Lineman Foreman for Kulaga Construction and was dearly loved and will be missed by his family, adopted family and his friends. Survivors include the following: Son: Joel Hammontree of Simpson, Louisiana; Daughter: Jamie Rene Hammontree of Rosepine, Louisiana; Two Granddaughters: Paige Hammontree and Breanne Hammontree; Brother-in-Law: James E. Ambler of Rosepine, Louisiana; Niece: Cathy Ambler of Rosepine, Louisiana; as well as Two Great Nieces. He was preceded in Death by: Father: Ora Hammontree; Mother: Lucille Hammontree; Sister: Dot Hammontree; Brother: Billy Hammontree.

Doyle Forsythe Smith, 62, of DeRidder, Louisiana, passed from this life on Tuesday, August 4, 2009. Visitation will be held at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, Louisiana on Friday, August 7, 2009 from 4 PM until 10 PM. Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at Smyrna Baptist Church, Sugartown Hwy 112, DeRidder, Louisiana with Rev. Arlen Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Smyrna Cemetery in DeRidder, Louisiana. He served in the U.S. Army for 20 years. At retirement, he was the 2nd highest decorated soldier at Fort Polk. He also worked for the American Embassy as a cleared American Guard for many years in El Salvador, Jordan and Kiev. Survivors include the following: Wife: Delores Smith of DeRidder, Louisiana; Daughter: Shanon Gluckman of Merced, California; Step-Children: Vickie Griffin of Harlingen, Texas, Jerry Johnson of Pitkin, Louisiana, Deborah Wise and husband Terry of Mora, Louisiana, Rhonda Haymon and husband Jon of Deville, Louisiana, and Sheila Johnson of Pitkin, Louisiana; Brothers: Cassius and wife Valery Smith of Madison, Alabama, Craig and wife Kathleen Smith of Carmel, California, Mark and wife Diane Smith of Beverly Hills, California, and Christofer Forsythe of Sonoma, California; Sisters: Valerie and husband Don Cuttie of Lutherville, Georgia and Jacquelyn Smith of Castro Valley, California; as well as Three Grandchildren, Seven Step-Grandchildren, and Six Step-Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 7, 2009 at Green Oak Baptist Church, Hwy 389 in Merryville, Louisiana at 10 AM with Rev. Clint Hines and Rev. T. J. Bordelon officiating. Burial will be held at Meadows Cemetery in Merryville, Louisiana. Pallbearers are Walter Bruns, Paul Cooley, John Leon, John Bowman, Elsie Ashworth, Floyd Stark. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Nichols and Glen Moore. The Pianist will be Jerry Hines accompanied by Soloist Carolyn Sharp. She was a member of Green Oak Baptist Church. She loved working in the church nursery and was a nurses aid. She is survived by: her dear friends Walt and Barbara Bruns of Merryville, Louisiana and her church family.
